Our Spine Care Program utilizes an innovative approach to the management of complex spinal conditions. Cases of complex spinal pain involve multiple sources of pain mechanisms including injury and dysfunction of various spinal structures (ligaments, disc, muscle, tendon, bone and joints), neurological compromise, metabolic and hormonal alterations as well as psychological involvement.
Long standing or recurring back pain is currently classified by researchers and government health organizations as a Chronic Disease which responds more effectively with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary treatment approach. Although chronic diseases are among the most common and costly health problems facing Canadians, they are also among the most preventable. Major chronic diseases, including spinal (back) conditions, heart disease, depression, diabetes and asthma share common risk factors and “co-morbidities”. Modifiable health habits and risk factors such as physical inactivity, poor diet, smoking, hypertension, high cholesterol, and being overweight account for a substantial proportion of all chronic diseases including painful back conditions.
For each patient, we will develop a 5-pronged progressive treatment approach to address your specific spinal condition. The 5 program phases include:
Interventions throughout the cycle of these phases may include:

Spinal Disc & Ligament Repair Therapy
Injury and degeneration of our spinal ligaments and intervertebral discs is the most common cause of chronic low back pain and instability. Our Spinal Disc & Ligament Repair Therapy is based on the premise that although the spinal disc and all ligaments are essentially avascular, they have the natural ability to repair itself through cell proliferation with physical and chemical stimulation. We utilize conservative approaches to increase the tensile strength and proliferation of ligaments and fibrous connective tissues including mechanical stretching, loading, unloading, increasing cellular metabolic activity and irritation. Our evidence based interventions include non-surgical spinal decompression (intermittent traction), acupuncture, therapeutic laser, deep soft tissue mobilization, prolotherapy, nutrition, balance training, deep breathing, cardiovascular exercises and supplementation. This integrated treatment approach enables a speedier recovery of injured ligaments and fibrous connective tissues.
With increased tensile strength of the fibrous outer layer of the disc, it has greater capacity to rehydrate and absorb the nutrients it requires to regenerate.
Our supplementation is aimed at supporting the following:
- Anti-inflammatory and Pain Relief
- Bone Building
- Cardio-Vascular support
- Cartilage cell repair
- Neurological Support
- Stress Reduction
