Spine Care Program

The Spine Care Program is our most popular program for complex cases of acute low back or neck pain or flare up of chronic low back or neck pain. The program is managed by our clinical director and delivered by the most appropriate team of clinicians.

Based on our team modelled, self management approach, the Spine Care program has been successful for many complex spinal injuries and conditions including herniated discs, radiculopathy, moderate to severe degeneration, spinal stenosis,  Our program follows the most current back pain clinical  guidelines including the  Towards Optimized Practice (TOP) Evidence-Informed Primary Care Management of Low Back Pain,  European Low Back Pain Series of Guidelines and the Neck Task Force Guidelines for neck pain.

We pride ourselves for our focus on self management.  See Back Education for more information on the spine and common spinal conditions. For  additional information on our program see Backgrounder on our Spine Care Program.

Program Duration:

16 sessions over 8 weeks, followed by a consult at one month and at three months post discharge.

In addition to our regular Spine Care Program we offer Spine Care programs specific to the populations/conditions below:

Our Spinal Disc & Ligament Repair Therapy

Injury and degeneration of our spinal ligaments and intervertebral discs is the most common cause of low back and neck pain and instability. Our Spinal Disc & Ligament Repair Therapy is based on the premise that although the spinal disc and all ligaments are essentially avascular, they have the natural ability to repair itself through cell proliferation with physical and chemical stimulation. We utilize conservative approaches to increase the tensile strength and proliferation of ligaments and fibrous connective tissues including mechanical stretching, loading, unloading, increasing cellular metabolic activity and irritation. Our evidence based interventions include spinal decompression, acupuncture, therapeutic laser, deep soft tissue mobilization,  nutrition, balance training, deep breathing, restorative yoga (deep connective tissue stretching), cardiovascular exercises and supplementation. This integrated treatment approach enables a speedier recovery of injured ligaments and fibrous connective tissues.

With increased tensile strength of the fibrous outer layer of the disc, it has greater capacity to rehydrate and absorb the nutrients it requires to regenerate.

Our proprietary supplementation is aimed at supporting the following:

  • Joint and Ligament Support  (Natural Anti-inflammatory, cartilage repair and Pain Relief)
  • Osteo Support  (Bone Building, Advanced Calcium/Magnesium Supplement)
  • Brain and Neuro Support (Neurological Supplement including multi B vitamins in a proprietary blend of brain supporting active ingredients)

Non Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy:

In selected patients, spinal decompression has the capability to safely decompress spinal segments; stretching ligaments, muscles and joint tissues. The intermittent de-compressive action of the table also recreates a process known as “imbibition” the natural method for disc diffusion. Your spinal discs have the potential to rehydrate under the mechanical forces of the spinal decompression unit. Over time and over the course of many successive treatments, there is some clinical evidence (excluding randomized controlled clinical research trials) to indicate that this form of treatment contributes to reduced pain from irritated nerve tissue and/or damaged disc material.

Spinal decompression can be used for the following problems:

  • Disc Herniations and Bulges
  • Radiculopathy
  • Degenerative Disc Disease and Joint Degeneration
  • Nerve Root Irritation and Sciatica
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Chronic Facet Syndrome
